The Design Engineer is usually involved in the front end design, typically taking the leadership role in the Schematic Design and Design Development, and then a monitoring role through the CD and CA phases.
The main contractor is the supervisory contractor of all construction work on a project, management of sub-contractors and vendors, etc. May be referred to as "Construction Manager," however, for consistency CTBUH uses the term "Main Contractor" exclusively.

Usually involved in the front end design, with a "typical" condition being that of a leadership role through either Schematic Design or Design Development, and then a monitoring role through the CD and CA phases.

Designed for a small urban site in Chicago, the building shares a city block with the AMA Headquarters building (completed in 1990). The building is freestanding on the site, but has been integrated into the AMA building’s existing plazas to the north and east. The form was driven by a desire to create a visual relationship and interaction with its existing neighbor. The saw-toothed façade on the upper levels complements the smooth, dramatic angle of the AMA building.
There are eight residential units on each of the small serrated high-rise floor plates, providing six of the units with “double-corners,” with corner bedrooms, living rooms, and balconies. Typical hotel levels have 26 guestrooms, and guestroom corridors terminate at glass corners, offering corridor daylight and views. Hotel function spaces on level five include a double-height ballroom with an outdoor deck overlooking State Street. At Level 17, building amenities are provided to be shared by hotel guests and residents, including a swimming pool, fitness center, and outdoor deck for special events.
