About Hotel Porta Fira

Located between the airport and the city of Barcelona in the Plaza Europa, the Torres Porta Fira are intended to become a new gateway to both the l’Hospitalet de Llobregat and the city of Barcelona. The project consists of two towers with a subtle dialogue between them.

The hotel tower, takes an organic, non-orthogonal form with a changing perception from all sides. The main element of the skin, a rain-screen system of red metal tubes, combines with the curvilinear form to give a stunning visual effect, especially looking directly up the tower from below.

This perception is complemented by the second tower, which houses offices. This orthogonal volume, apparently pure at first sight with a rectilinear glass curtain wall, contains an internal core also of red, which breaks out of the orthogonal form and, in this way, becomes a reflection of the hotel tower. Between the two towers, and connecting them, is a common atrium.
